We understand that plans sometimes change.

Our holidays require us to commit to accommodation, guides, vehicles, equipment and other services in advance. For that reason, cancellation becomes increasingly difficult as the start date approaches.

1. Standard Cancellation Policy

You may terminate your booking at any time before the holiday starts by notifying us in writing.

If the booking is a package within Spanish/EU package-travel law, HikingGuide.es may apply an appropriate and justifiable cancellation charge. It will be calculated from the timing of cancellation, non-recoverable costs and commitments, savings resulting from cancellation and income from any alternative use or resale of the services. We will justify the amount on request.

More than 30 days before the start date:
Payments will normally be refunded, less any appropriate and justifiable charge for non-recoverable costs.

30 days or less before the start date:
The charge may be substantial and, where the evidence justifies it, may reach the amount paid. It is assessed rather than imposed as an automatic flat “no refund” rule.

Unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances: if such circumstances at the destination or its immediate vicinity significantly affect performance of the package, or significantly affect passenger transport to the destination, you may cancel before departure without a cancellation charge and receive a full refund of payments for the package. No additional compensation is due. Refunds required by law will be made without undue delay and no later than 14 days after termination.

2. Your €200 Deposit

The standard booking deposit is €200 per person.

Although the deposit is non-refundable once the booking enters the non-refundable cancellation period, we understand that circumstances change.

You may normally request that your €200 deposit is transferred once to another available HikingGuide.es holiday.

A transferred deposit:

Remains non-refundable
Can normally be moved once
Is subject to availability
Cannot be exchanged for cash
Requires payment of any difference in the price of the replacement holiday

3. Illness, Injury and Travel Problems

The normal cancellation terms also apply when a customer cannot participate because of personal circumstances including:

Illness or injury
Flight cancellation
Travel disruption
Work commitments
Family circumstances
Passport or visa problems

This is one reason that appropriate travel and cancellation insurance is mandatory for customers travelling with HikingGuide.es.

Customers should make appropriate claims through their travel insurer where applicable.

4. Weather and Route Changes

Hiking and e-bike activities take place outdoors.

Changes to weather, trail access, fire restrictions, conservation rules or other local conditions may require us to alter the planned programme.

A change to an individual walking or cycling route does not automatically create an entitlement to a refund where an appropriate alternative can reasonably be provided.

5. Cancellation by HikingGuide.es

If HikingGuide.es cancels a booking because we are unable to provide the contracted holiday, we will offer the appropriate:

Alternative date;
Alternative arrangement;
Credit; or
Refund.

Where a refund is legally required, it will be processed without undue delay and within the applicable statutory time limit.

6. Mandatory Consumer Rights

Nothing in this policy removes any statutory consumer or travel right that cannot legally be excluded.

Where Spanish or EU package-travel legislation applies, including provisions concerning unavoidable and extraordinary circumstances, those mandatory rights take precedence.

7. How to Cancel

Please notify us as soon as possible.

Cancellation should be made in writing by email or WhatsApp so that there is a clear record of the request.
